ABOUT ME

I started my journey as a computer science major. I learned many things about computers and myself. Mainly, I did not want to code complicated software for the rest of my life. I have always been interested in creating art. I fought this feeling from the beginning. It was after having an epiphany that I realized I needed to flex my creative muscles and do something that I truly love.

I started freelancing while I was working on my degree in visual communications. I have donated my time to an area church and several businesses. This provided me with valuable experience working with clients and vendors. I found myself loving every moment of the design process and yearning for more. I was provided an opportunity working for a print shop. Gaining prepress experience has helped me provide valuable information to my clients. My work with the print shop was limited due to the economic climate. I was forced to look for employment when the country was not looking for employees.

Another opportunity arose from the east coast. Working at SW Creatives in Silver Spring Maryland helped to refine my design skills. The experience also strengthened my passion for design. My title was intern but I was not the typical “go for”. I worked with clients from the conception of the project till their completion. When the internship was complete I had more experience and a strong passion to further my career and my freelance business.

I have always found creative outlets to express myself. I have been a DJ for 13 years and this also offers another creative outlet for me. Inspiring a crowd to dance is more difficult than one might think. You need to look at the crowd and predict how they are going to respond to the next song. This is also true with design. Designers need to think about the impact that their designs have on society
